Villa Clara is in the beautiful, authentic and unspoiled village of St Jeannet. The village is situated below a spectacular rock formation called the Baou de Saint Jeannet, the face of which rises over two hundred meters. Exploring the medieval streets and buildings is a ‘must do’ - and very easy, too, with Villa Clara only a five-minute flat walk to the village and its local butcher, baker, bars and restaurants. Learn more about St Jeannet here.
Offering sweeping views of the Cote d'Azur, picturesque Provençal walks behind the Baou, and a quiet, authentic local village scene, Saint Jeannet provides our guests with the best of what the Cote d'Azur area has to offer.
A day can start with a saunter into town for fresh bread, meats and cheese, enjoyed while taking in the panorama from Villa Clara's deck. A wander behind the Baou for a picnic lunch is straight out of Manon des Sources, before cooling off in the pool in the afternoon.
The catch? You'll never want to leave.
Exploring the Côte d’Azur is easy, too. Villa Clara is only 16 kilometres from Nice and it’s a short trip to nearby Cannes, and historic Antibes as well.
The small nearby town of Vence is famous as a home for artists, sculptors and painters. DH Lawrence, Matisse and Chagall are among those who once lived here. Today, there are exhibitions of contemporary art, jazz and classical music festivals and a famous book market. Find out more about Vence here.
Heading east along the Riviera takes you to the principality of Monaco. This is a great drive along the Mediterranean coast.
Italy, too, is within easy reach. The border is only 1 hour from Villa Clara, and from there you have easy access to the heart of Northern Italy. Visits to the markets in Ventimiglia and San Remo are always high on our list of priorities when we stay.
